守株待兔(shǒu zhū dài tù) Waiting by a Stump for a Careless Hare
Once upon a time ,a farmer in the State of Song was working in the field when he saw a rabbit accidentally bump into a tree stump and break its neck .The farmer took the rabbit home and cooked himself a delicious meal .
So from then on he gave up farming ,and simply sat by the stump waiting for rabbits to come and run into it .
This idiom mocks those who get lucky once ,and wait for it to happen again ,rather than making the effort to obtain what they need .
